Chap- 1

“Jasper?”
I was sitting on the couch as I looked over my shoulder. Alice was standing at the doorway, a saddened expression on her face. I could literally taste the anxiety seeping through her.
I instantly stood up. “What’s wrong Alice?” I questioned.
She flinched as I spoke.
I walked towards her, knowing that something was dreadfully wrong.
“Alice, what’s wrong?”
She shook her head and kept her eyes on the floor.
I sighed, trying desperately to change the atmosphere. After a while she finally took a deep breath and swallowed. “Jasper I,” she began slowly “I saw myself in a vision and…well, you see…”
I grasped her shoulder gently, pulling her against my chest. She hugged my waist tightly. I stroked her hair, pulling her closer. “What happened Alice, just tell me” I whispered in to ear.
“I have to go to Italy.” She finally said, her voice faltering
My blood ran cold. No, there was no way I would let her.
“Alice I can’t agree for you to go.” I said tensely, trying to contain my anger “Do you have any idea how dangerous it is!?”
She looked up at me pleadingly, her eyes swimming with pain. “But Jasper, Bella isn’t dead! You know that!”
I gritted my teeth together. How could she ask me something like that?
Her voice was now firmer. “Jasper, I love you, but I have to go. One way or another.”

“Alice, please. Be rational . What if something happened?” My voice was nearly begging her.

She turned away from me and ran out the door. I couldn’t even move. Seconds passed before I knew I had to go chase after her.

I raced through the woods, tracking her down. She ran quickly, darting from tree to tree, always just out of sight. I cursed. I couldn’t afford to lose her.

I raced at my top speed, the trees no more than a blur as I rushed passed them. My muscles strained to their limits but I felt no pain and pushed harder, faster.
She was close, I could smell her. Her sweet scent filled the air around me, a scent I knew well. It was strong now. She was farther – much farther than before.

“Alice!” My voice was breaking in fear.

She was still close enough, I could smell her. Her sweet scent filled the air around me, a scent I knew well. It was strong now. She was nearby – jumping, no longer running. I was right on her trail and she waited for her moment to run now, nervous anticipation coursing through her body.

“Alice!” I was going to have an anxiety attack soon if I didn’t find her.

Finally I had a lead.

There was only one area south of where was where the tree branches ruffled softly, just the slightest bit.  My blood coursed as I saw the slightest blur of her hair.
“I see you,” I whispered under my breath as I leapt from the tree, sprinting the instant my feet touched the ground.

With a burst of strength and speed I leapt to the right and rushed at what awaited behind it in the shadow of trees.

I had her.

Grabbing her wrists I pinned her hands above her head and pressed her back into the tree by pushing my body against hers.
She struggled desperately, trying to get free of my grasp.

I leaned in to cover her smooth lips with my own, savoring the taste of her. She stopped struggling, but pushed forward, and pulled me deeper into the kiss.

As we broke, I spoke softly. Our lips were mere centimeters apart.

“Alice, I can’t let you go.” Her face grew saddened as I spoke, causing me to guilt.

But I continued. “If anything happened, I wouldn’t be able to live.”

“But Jasper…”

“I will go. But you have to stay here.”

Her expression changed from sadness to anger and fear. “No! Jasper you can’t!” her voice strained with each word. “Then we’ll both go!”

“Alice…” I growled.

“No Jasper! I’m going with you!” Her face stood like a statue.

She had me. This argument was hers.
